World Music Veteran

Cesar Peña is a veteran of Detroit's Latin and World Music scene who is also at home with classical, jazz and blues styles. This native of Southwest Detroit has toured the U.S., Canada and Europe with blues guitar legend Albert King and has performed with noted West Coast Latin musician Abel Zarate (Malo) in a World Music project comprised of players formerly with Santana.

As a leader, Cesar has taken World Beat and Tropidelic groups to the Detroit Latino World Festival, the Toledo Jazz Society, Dia, and the Mitch Albom Show.

Cesar's formal music credits include studies at Berklee College of Music, San Francisco City College—where he studied classical guitar with Lawrence Ferrara—and at Joe Fava Studios, where he was a student of Ron English. Amazingly, he was performing with established area musicians at the age of 14, after beginning to play the guitar when he was 12 years old.
